My name is Aaron and I joined the Cairn team in September. My role with Cairn is split between working with existing churches as part of the Renovate team and resourcing pioneers and church planters through Innovate.
I’m passionate about seeing people learn how to follow Jesus in ways that make sense to them and the thing that excites me most about the vision of Cairn is the potential to see the church go to new places and reach new people. It’s a real privilege through my work with Cairn to encourage leaders as they grapple with what it means to make disciples and be good news in their context.
I’m married to Amy and together we lead Oxgangs Community Church, a new church planted on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Alongside this I’ve managed to squeeze in some post-graduate study with Durham University. I’m a lifelong Blackburn Rovers fan and play football a few times a week for a local men’s team. I’m learning to deal with the fact that I’ll probably never make it in the premier league.
In all of these things I’m learning that when we lay down our self-reliance, God can do more than we ask or imagine according to his power at work within us.
