Introducing Kay…

By Kay Cathcart

I’m Kay and I’ve been involved with Cairn from the beginning. My experience of trying to put discipleship and mission back at the heart of local church is way too long to document here. Suffice to say, for every success and significant learning, there were many mistakes, failures and wrong turnings. But God brought people to us who wanted to have a go too – ready to be brave, up for collaborating and determined to invest in the right things. I’ve loved working with disciples, leaders and church teams to imagine what God might do with our ordinary, Jesus-following lives.

Now I head up Cultivate, investing in disciples who’ll learn to make disciples, and use their influence in every area of culture, community and life. We want to see leaders empowered and released into all kinds of Kingdom opportunities where they are, and so are developing training pipelines for churches to share. We offer a Training Hub year, courses for growing new leaders in your local church and pathways to develop disciples and interns.

I’m convinced at the heart, I need to be a disciple with a life worth imitating, not just a leader with a course worth running. I want to be able to say “Follow me as I follow Christ”. Not a perfect model, but a personal one, which points my friends to Jesus and helps disciples and leaders have hope that they can live in a fruitful, sustainable way. So Stuart and I and our two kids love to spend time with people, loving our neighborhood and inviting people into family. We’re learning rhythms of life which bring life and feed our faith. We laugh and dream, hang out at the beach and read books, shout and cry together – a lot.

We’re in this Cairn thing for the long haul – what God has for us is bigger than we’ve even begun to imagine.

Give

God has given us a vision to see the Celtic Lands transformed by Him. In order to serve that vision, we need to finance it. If you feel like God has captured your heart for this vision too, could you think about financially supporting us?
